In keeping with the theme of “worship,” these are just a few things I jotted down…in the “CafĂ© de Traci” as I was eating lunch in my car today….. “What IS Worship?”
Worship Is….
A two way invitation: an invitation for us to step into the Holy of Holies; and not only our invitation to God to meet us where we are, but to push aside all of the clutter in our lives and actually ALLOW Him to commune with us
An offering: of ourselves, wholly imperfect, to be seen as perfect through the eyes of a Holy God
A sacrifice: as we, in our humanity, endure life and circumstances that are often beyond our control and in the midst of it, finding a glimmer of hope, reminding us that we are to give thanks in whatever season of life we may find ourselves in as we are enveloped by our Understanding God
A time of reflection & renewal: as we lift up our praises to God, our faith is strengthened and as a result, become truly emotional about the God we serve
A place of refuge: a place where, even for a moment, to shut out the chaos and confusion, the busyness, the sadness, that plague us in daily life…I believe we meet in a place called “a sanctuary” for a reason….it is God’s desire for us to feel that HE is our sanctuary; our place of sanity in an often times insane world
An overwhelming display of public affection: from the created to the Creator; from the Creator to His created as He descends upon us and wholly envelops us in His love….if we allow Him to; it’s a heartfelt cry to a Faithful and Loving God
A time of repentance and reckoning: where the eyes of our hearts are enlightened to the sin that, at times, so easily besets us in our journey and reminds us to look toward the redemptive love of Jesus Christ that covers and removes our sin as far as the east is from the west
A means of communication between us and God: the giving and receiving of love
A time of seeking; A time of waiting; A time of filling as God pours Himself into us; A time of restoration
A gift – that a Holy God would actually long to have communion with the imperfect – that He would even allow us to engage with Him
Intentional: God rewards an intentional giver….my dad always says you can never out-give God
